One of Kelley Technologies latest designs, the Gun Lake Casino in Wayland, Michigan, located between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, Michigan opened in February to rave reviews and overflow crowds.

The new $165 million, 76,000 square-foot property is owned by the Tribe of Pottawatomi Indians. Las Vegas’ Station Casinos is the operator.

The Gun Lake property employs some 700 people, has more than 1,400 slot and video poker machines and 28 gaming tables. More importantly it features a state of the art sound system and video walls, all designed by Kelley.

Kelley Project Designer, Scott Marcellus designed the audio systems for the whole property, as well as the three 4 X 4 video wall designs. Scott had to work through a three different iterations of design concepts, since the project had so many stops and restarts over the years it took to build it. Nevertheless, the designs turned out to work perfectly, and everything is going well.

Kelley Vice President, H Waldman, helped coordinate the purchase of the equipment used for the sound system, the video walls and a number of Samsung screens that were used in the gaming areas. Finally, Karim Jabal took over in the closing stages as Project Manager for Kelley to ensure the final installation was done according to the design.

As for the overflow crowds, they were real; so real that the State Highway Patrol had to close the off ramp leading to the casino on opening day. Patrick Kelley Bike Day is the 27th!

Who was Patrick Kelley? He was a person who loved life and lived it to the fullest. He especially loved children and challenged them to become smarter, stronger and better. After Patrick’s untimely death, several of his friends got together and created the Patrick Kelley Youth Foundation.

The Foundation has tried to mirror Patrick’s beliefs by offering incentives, which produce desirable results. Through participating Clark County schools and the Greater Las Vegas After School All-Stars children are given parameters and guidelines for the upcoming quarter. When these goals are achieved, the children receive positive recognition and feedback. So far, these kids have been provided with over 1600 new bicycles and 1600 new helmets.

In addition, there are scholarships offered to students demonstrating a unique set of skills.

Applicants then appear in person at a PKYF board of directors meeting where the board interviews each applicant. Following all the interviews the board votes on which applicant will receive the Patrick Kelley Scholarship.

The Foundation’s biggest event, the PK Bike Day, will be coming up Sunday, March 27th at Piero’s Italian Cuisine’s parking lot (www.pieroscuisine.com). Students from schools in the Greater Las Vegas After School All Star Program come to the event. Besides the bike give-away, everyone enjoys a wonderful barbeque with students, their families and friends, as well as Patrick’s family and friends. It is a very special and truly memorable day for these deserving students and for those who knew and loved Pat.

The women and men of our armed forces stopping at the USO at McCarran Airport have a lot of new toys to play with thanks to the generosity of Kelley Technologies. It all started with a phone call to Mike Kelley asking him if he could help with the installation of some of the items that were slated to go into the USO facility.

Mike then gave his blessing to the project and the next thing anyone knew, there was a flurry of activity and there it was – a new, improved, ready to go USO!

Kelley’s team first looked at what was called for in the plans and decided they cold buy the goods at cost. That meant the theatre, the surround-sound, all the speakers, the two televisions, the DVD player, the video game players and the computers were all included.

Next, the Kelley team found some veterans from their own ranks and got all the equipment installed for nothing. In the space of a number of days, the job was done. The result is a series of spaces that are restful, entertaining and just what our transiting service personnel need.

Kelley Technologies Creates Sensational Guest Experience Solutions For The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

If you think creative energy, imagination and fresh design ideas are running low in Las Vegas during recessive times, we invite you to look at what Kelley Technologies, a 40-year Las Vegas veteran, was able to accomplish at the most important new hotel to open up on The Strip, the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

Kelley is a firm that positions itself as “The One Solution Provider for Guest Experiences,” specializing in design and installation of innovative technologies, such as low-voltage and specialty lighting, audio/visual and operating systems for the hospitality, resort and gaming industries. Kelley’s design and engineering team applied its collective experience, imagination and resolve to turn the designers’ bold visions for the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas into stunning realities.

One look at the spectacular columned entry to the hotel will show you why literally thousands of visitors have already taken photos of what has quickly become the most talked-about hotel lobby in the world. The design and engineering complexities of turning eight, twenty-foot high, four-sided columns into the dazzling visual showcases envisioned by the designers and owners presented the kind of challenge the Kelley team relished.

To find the right solution for making the columns, Kelley conducted interviews with a number of LED signage and flat-panel display makers. On the last day of the interviews, Kelley President and CEO, Brooks Pickering was visiting Samsung, the international visual specialist they represent commercially in North America. There he saw a demonstration of some prototype Ultra-Thin Bezel LCD screens and he knew he had the solution. The Kelley team worked to blend their unparalleled systems and technology experience with the Samsung screens to construct a genuinely unique visual experience for guests arriving at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Kelley developed the new technologies, hardware and systems to seamlessly put in place over 400 of Samsung’s new LCD screens and take the columns from concept to reality.

The Kelley team’s creativity extended far beyond the hotel lobby. They were also responsible for a myriad of other exceptional guest experiences at the $3.9 billion hotel and casino project, installing over 6,300 flat panel screens in guestrooms, restaurants, bars, casino and pool deck. The total effect of the engineering, design and visual technologies solutions applied throughout the newest and most spectacular mega hotel on The Strip is a strong affirmation of the skills, imagination and focus Kelley Technologies brought to the project. Clearly, Kelley is continuing the tradition of keeping Las Vegas at the creative center for hospitality, gaming and resort properties.
